Puppy Foundation Class

All puppies welcome once vaccinated - please speak to the club secretary if your puppy has not yet completed their initial course of vaccines as we will do our best to accommodate you both.

This is a 9 week course during which you and your puppy will learn the basics of sit, lay and wait on command. Sounds simple? Not always.
​
Over the 9 weeks you will be continually assessed on the following skills:

Exercise 1 - Responsibility & Care
Exercise 2 - Cleanliness & Identification
Exercise 3 - Attentive response to name
Exercise 4 - Play with the puppy
Exercise 5 - Socialisation with a) unknown placid dog b) unknown adult c) noise distraction
Exercise 6 - Handling & Inspection to maintain health
Exercise 7 - Puppy recall
Exercise 8 - Basic puppy positions
Exercise 9 - Walking in a controlled manner
Exercise 10 - Stay for approximately 10 seconds
Exercise 11 - Take article away from puppy
Exercise 12 - Food manners

On successful completion of the puppy foundation course, each puppy and handler is awarded a rosette and certificate and their details are added to the KC register.
